For Teenagers, Hello means 'How About a Hug?'
“A measure of how rapidly the ritual is spreading is that some students complain of peer pressure to hug to fit in…Experts say that over the last generation, boys have become more comfortable expressing emotion, as embodied by the MTV show “Bromance,” which is now a widely used term for affection between straight male friends.”
There’s nothing wrong with a little embrace between friends as a greeting or a goodbye. Imposing a ban on hugging in schools is pretty ridiculous. Stop trying to call it a distraction to academia. This just reminds me of when Ms. Miles would go around giving detentions out for kids that didn’t have their shirts tucked in.
